People living abroad
Luxembourg citizens living abroad should submit their passport application to a diplomatic mission (Embassy) or consular mission (Consulate) of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in their country of residence. In countries in which Luxembourg does not have a diplomatic or consular mission, the application should be made to the Belgian diplomatic or consular mission which represents Luxembourg in consular matters.
The following documents should be provided:
Adults:
- one passport photo that respects the ICAO guidelines .
- a residence certificate or permit supplied by the competent administrative authority in the country of residence. In countries that don't issue residence certificates or residence permits, residence may be proved by a driving licence, an electricity or a telephone bill, or by all other document informing in a credible manner about the applicant's address, for instance a statement on his honour, signed either in front of a notary or a responsible person of the diplomatic or consular mission.
- in the event of marriage abroad, a copy of the marriage certificate.
Minors:
- one passport photo that respects the ICAO guidelines .
- the family record book.
- if the parents are divorced, a copy of the separation or divorce decision stating that the parent countersigning the child's apllication has the custody of the child or a certificate from the competent authority of the country of residence certifying that the child lives in the same place than the parent.
- if born abroad, a copy of the birth certificate
